CHAs are individuals who devote their time and energy to support healthy initiatives in their communities and make a substantial difference in health disparities in the communities they serve. They are involved in planning, interpretation, recruiting, advising, implementation, reporting and a variety of other roles in consumer advocacy.

As such, this curriculum was developed to ensure our community health advocates are well equipped with the tools and knowledge to field basic issues and disease-specific questions, and, prepare them with the information to identify health disparities. Furthermore, it will provide consistency regarding the information being disseminated to the general public across different zip codes.

Sessions

Ten sessions are included, which cover different health topics to ensure the maximum benefit and appeal to all learning processes. Each session is designed to last approximately 30 minutes. Sessions are preceded with a pre-test of 5 questions, and followed with a 5-question post-test. These tests are designed simply to help the Center gauge initial knowledge of the subject matter in comparison to what knowledge is gained from participation in our educational outreach. No individual results will be shared with any outside parties.

Please take your time and remember that all ten sessions do not need to be completed in a day. Thank you for your continued participation and commitment to your community!

Funding for this conference was made possible (in part) by P20MD002314 from the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities. The views expressed in written conference materials or publications and by speakers and moderators do not necessarily reflect the official policies of the Department of Health and Human Services; nor does mention by trade names, commercial practices, or organizations imply endoresement by the U.S. Government.
